Auntie Anne's History

1988:

“Auntie” Anne and Jonas Beiler bought a stand in a Downingtown, Pa. farmer’s market, and began selling the Original Pretzel and lemonade.

1989:

Franchising began when a store location opened at Saturday’s Market in Middletown, Pa.

1992:

100th Auntie Anne’s store opened in Granite Run Mall, Media, Pa.

1995:

First train station location opened at Penn Station in New York City. The round-the-world tour that continues to this day began with the opening of a store in Jakarta, Indonesia.

2003:

Original and Cinnamon Sugar Pretzel Stix introduced.

2004:

Pretzel Dogs welcomed to the menu line-up — an Auntie Anne’s pretzel wrapped around a Nathan’s Famous® Hot Dog.

2005:

Company founders sold company to fully devote themselves to the vision of opening a family counseling center.

2006:

New brand image conveying “Pretzel Perfect” is launched through an inaugural Free Pretzel Day.

2008:

20th birthday recognized with store locations offering free pretzels to all consumers on February 2.

2009:

Celebrated “grand” worldwide grand opening at the 1,000th store in Fresno, Ca. Pepperoni Pretzel and five fruity Lemonade Mixer flavors joined the core menu offerings.

2010:

Company joined the FOCUS Brands portfolio. Pretzel Nuggets menu item introduced to provide consumers with the convenience and portability they have requested.

Partnership began with Food Donation Connection — matching stores throughout the country with local hunger relief organizations to donate surplus pretzel products.

2011:

A new national charitable partnership is formed to raise money for childhood cancer research, prevention, and treatment with Alex’s Lemonade Stand Foundation. Nearly $2 million dollars has been raised to fund life-saving research.

2012:

Flagship military base location opened at Fort Bliss in El Paso, TX.

2013:

A new, bite-sized menu favorite is born with the Mini Pretzel Dogs.

25 years later and still growing, we moved into amusement parks and rolled out in food trucks.

2014:

The first store redesign in company history is revealed. Warmer tones, prominent brand messaging, and enhanced equipment are part of the new image.

Auntie Anne’s introduces the “My Pretzel Perks” mobile loyalty app.

2017:

Finally, Auntie Anne’s coming to Cambodia, which opens at Sorya Center Point, ground floor on 23rd September 2017. Auntie Anne becomes the first pretzel store in Cambodia and promise to give the best experience of freshly baked pretzel.
